AG Outlaws Jacob Goeppner Earns Professional Call Up With American Raptors

AG Rugby is pleased to announce Senior Academy Outlaws fullback, Jacob Goeppner, has earned a professional contract to train and play full-time with the American Raptors at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado for the 2022 season.

Goeppner is another standout from this impressive first class of Outlaws and the first Outlaw to earn a professional contract with the American Raptors. “I’m really excited for the opportunity to go play for the Raptors, and I’m not sure I would’ve had this opportunity without this season with the Outlaws. I’m so thankful for the coaches, support staff and teammates not only with the Outlaws but the Huns because they’ve taken my love and commitment to rugby to the next level.”

“Jacob is an immensely talented player with a huge passion for rugby,” says AG Head Coach Sam Harris. “We’re excited to see him earn a contract with the American Raptors and we know he’ll be an impactful addition to their team.”

Goeppner came to Austin in 2019 to join the Austin Huns 7s team by way of their summer 7s scholarship program. After two seasons with the Huns, Goeppner proved to be an impact back at the club level and earned an invitation to join the AG Senior Academy Outlaws in September of 2021.

Goeppner’s breakout performance against the American Raptors at Infinity Park in October, put him on the Raptors’ radar. His two tries and nine tackles in the match helped the Outlaws to a nail-biting, road victory.
