Legendary Sports Personality Jim Knox Joins AGs
AUSTIN, TX (February 23, 2021) - AG Rugby is delighted to announce legendary stadium personality, Jim Knox, as In-Game Entertainment Host for the 2021 season. Jim Knox has been the ‘fan’s best friend’ for the last 20 years, livening up the fan experience with the Texas Rangers, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, MLB Network, and ESPN. Knox is looking forward to enriching the AG fan experience down at Bold Stadium and showcasing just how fun the sport of rugby can be.
“I joined the AGs because their vision is so fan-friendly, they’re opening the doors for fans to have a great time, and the organization is first-class; it’s a young, energetic staff that’s always thinking about the community,” says Jim Knox. “For me to be able to walk around and talk to the fans; see their avid enthusiasm for their sport, and really to just be a part of a fantastic sporting event, it’s just a perfect situation for me.”
Knox is widely known as one of the great sideline reporters and stadium hosts in all of sports. He has a wild streak and grand sense of adventure that will fit right in with the AG rugby home crowd. Knox has built himself quite the highlight reel over the years whether it’s chasing buffalos, skateboarding with bulldogs, or getting tossed from couches. This legendary entertainer is eager to create more viral moments right here in Austin with some of the best fans in sports.
“In Major League Baseball, Pro Football and College Football I had rules and regulations that I would sometimes have to break to make it fun, but with the AGs they’re saying ‘do what you want to do, you want to be down on the field - go down there, you want to talk to players - talk to players, game is going on? - talk to the coach.”
Beyond bringing a laugh to AG Nation, Knox hopes to learn the game alongside new fans and rugby savvy fans alike. “I can honestly say I’m no rugby expert, but that’s the really exciting part for me because I’ll get to learn this sport alongside new fans and really just show the city how fun this game really is, and how open to newcomers these players and fans are.” Knox and his production team are currently working on a short docu-series that will take new-to-rugby fans on a learning journey unlike any before.
“The players and coaches remind me a lot of hockey players because they’re the most accommodating athletes, and they come from all walks of life so they’re likable, personable, and grateful to be interviewed and have an opportunity to tell their story.”
Welcome to the AGs, Jim Knox!
