From ASM Clermont Auvergne, Soheyl Jaoudat Signs with Austin Elite Rugby
ROUND ROCK (TX) - Austin Elite Rugby is excited to announce the signing of Morocco 7’s star, Soheyl Jaoudat. Jaoudat joined ASM Clermont Auvergne in 2010 playing in the French Top 14 Competition before deciding to transition into Major League Rugby.
At just 12 years old, Jaoudat began playing junior rugby at the ASM Clermont Auvergne. From 2008-2018, he spent his time at the prestigious academy in France. His lightning speed and technicality on the pitch is what made him a standout, and helped lead the ASM U22 side to a championship win in the 2018 Espoirs French Champion. With impressive performances within the academy side, he earned himself a spot on both, Morocco’s National 15s and 7s side.
Earning his first cap at just 18 years old and going on to achieve 55 caps for Morocco’s 7s National Team. Jaoudat has proven himself to be a force in helping lead his team through two championship wins in 2016 and 2017 in the Maghreb Tri Nation competition against Algeria and Tunisia. Jaoudat has also made 10 appearances with the Moroccan XV side, with wins in 2016 and 2017 in the African Cup XV.
Having played alongside some of the best in the world; the former Moroccan International brings a strong rugby background to Austin Elite Rugby. Jaoudat said, “I was extremely happy when I found out I was selected. Indeed, it’s a real opportunity for me to discover the professional world in the US.”
Austin Elite Rugby looks forward to Soheyl’s arrival in Austin, and Head Coach Alain Hyardet anticipates he will be an integral part of our 2019 season run apart of Major League Rugby.
Welcome, Soheyl to the Lone Star State!
