Daniel Faleafa to join Austin Gilgronis after 2019 Rugby World Cup

Austin Gilgronis is excited to announce the signing of Daniel Faleafa.

Born in 1989, Daniel grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, where he attended Mount Albert Grammar School, in Auckland. In 2007, Daniel was selected to play for the New Zealand National Schoolboy Rugby Union team, he went on to join the Auckland Rugby Academy and Auckland, a top rugby union team of the Auckland Rugby Football Union, where he played in the ITM Cup. After a brief appearance with Northland, Daniel returned back to Auckland that same season. Daniel joined North land full time in 2010.

Daniel was a key member of the New Zealand National U20’s team that won the 2009 IRB Junior World Cup England 44-28.

2013 saw Faleafa make his test debut for Tonga against the USA. Brief stints with Southern Districts and Randwick in Australia, Faleafa moved north and joined Sporting Club Albigeois, playing in the French Pro D2. In 2017 Daniel moved to Union Sportive Colomiers, in Colomiers, France, Daniel decided to cross the English Channel and joined Coventry, (Coventry, England) where is played in the RFU Championship.

Daniel is a powerful and athletic backrower, which has seen him receive 23 caps for the Ikale Tahi (Tonga National Rugby Union Team). Faleafa made his Rugby World Cup debut when Tonga took on England on September 22nd, 2019.
