Canadian Center, Doug Fraser Commits to Austin Elite Rugby

Austin Elite Rugby is excited to announce the signing of Canadian Center, Doug Fraser. Fraser is a midfielder from Ladysmith, British Columbia - he grew up playing with Cowichan Rugby Club. He then attended the University of Victoria where he was a key component in the teams two national championship wins.

Fraser also played representative rugby with the BC Bears in the Canadian Rugby Championship and England Counties in 2016. He has also suited up for the Vancouver Island and N. Vancouver Island representative sides.

Fraser’s low center of gravity makes him difficult to bring down and his hard-hitting defense has won the respect of many opponents in the CDI Premier League, and on the Canadian National Circuit. He made his debut for Canada against Brazil in the Americas Rugby Championship on February 17, 2018 against Brazil. Since then, Fraser has earned himself 4 international caps for the Canadian National Team.

During the Fall he played for the Canadian Selects in the Americas Pacific Challenge. He was then selected to go on tour with his national side for the Repechage Tournament in 2018, which saw Canada qualify for the 2019 World Cup. Most recently, he was selected for the South American leg of the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship against Uruguay and Brazil.
