Austin Elite Rugby Signs Canadian Flanker, Mohamed Abdelmonem
It is with excitement that we announce the signing of Flanker, Mohamed Abdelmonem. Originally from Egypt, he began playing rugby at just 8 years old. He later moved to Canada and was a graduate of Citadel High School.
Moe played for his local club rugby team the Halifax Tars RFC, winning 6 Provincial and 5 Maratime Championship titles in a row before donning the maroon of St. Mary’s University to play rugby and study finance.
Post graduation, Moe continued playing footy at the Provincial level for Nova Scotia, being a key component in the teams first Eastern Championship win in 15 years (2017).
Moe was still seeking to progress his rugby career and made the move to Victoria B.C. in 2017 to join the James Bay Athletic Association. A few months later he moved to Taranaki, New Zealand and spent a year with the Spotswood URFC.
He then moved back to James Bay and was selected for the Canadian Centralized Program. The past 2 years he has been a standout for Atlantic Rock Rugby, that competes in the Canadian Rugby Championship, and the team is comprised of the best players amongst 6 provinces.
Our coaching staff is eager to have the talented Flanker join our forward pack for our game coming up in Glendale.
“Moving to America to play rugby was something I never could have imagined a few years ago, but I am ready for it” said Moe.
Welcome, Moe to the Lone Star State!
