AG’s Take Texas Cup Home

Austin, TX (March 10, 2020) It takes 17 beers to fill the Texas Cup, the Gilgronis counted. The AG’s first victory came over state-rivals Houston Sabercats at their place this past Saturday.

“In the first half we -at times- went away from the system, but to the credit of the guys they came together in the shed and were much more composed late in the match,” said AG’s Director of Rugby, Mick Byrne. “The guys second-half performance proves the system works and that the veteran guys bring composure to the squad on top of their physicality.”

The victory saw the Gilgronis climb the Western Conference table. The second-half performance earned the AG’s MLR Team of The Week honors.

Tiaan Strauss Erasmus two tries landed him a spot on the First XV of The Week for the second match in a row. The hooker has four tries in 3 starts and is try shy of the league leader.

Jamie Mackintosh earned his first ever XV of the Week honors with 12 carries, 6 dominant tackles, and a league high 39 ruck arrivals.
