AG Sends Off Home Crowd With Blowout Win

Saturday Night was the final AG home match of the 2021 season, and with another record crowd in attendance, the team did not disappoint.

In fact, they did quite the opposite. Putting on the highest-scoring performance of their season in a tantalizing display of champagne rugby. Two long tries from the Man of the match, Dom Akina, electrified a raucous home crowd. But the highlight of the match had to be LaRome White’s 70-meter intercept try!

It’s not often you see a prop racing away from the defense but LaRome would not be denied and Bold Stadium erupted.

Pride Night proved to be a major success as players and fans suited up in rainbow garb to promote equality and inclusivity, and the festivities surrounding the match showed just how powerful the all-inclusive ethos of rugby could be to our community. Gina Chavez’s prematch performance ignited and united the fan base in a beautiful salute to the year-long entertainment contribution the Austin Music Foundation provided the AG rugby fan base. A rainbow formed in the stands as Pride Night rally towels waved from the first minute to the last.

Coach Sam Harris couldn’t have been more pleased with the result, “We wanted to secure this win to show our appreciation for our fans, but really it was the fans in the stands that were the difference. They were the story Saturday night and all season long and we really feel AG Nation will be our 16th man for years to come.”
