AG Rugby Signs Super Rugby No. 8 Lachlan McCaffrey

AUSTIN, TX (June 11, 2021) AG Rugby is excited to announce the signing of No.8 Lachlan McCaffrey. The premier loose forward McCaffrey joined the team this week and looks forward to helping the AGs on their playoff push.

“It’s taken me a while to get over stateside but I’m absolutely thrilled to finally be able to get stuck in with the boys, the whole organization has been nothing but welcoming and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and see how I can help this team toward a trophy,” says McCaffrey.

The 31 year-old No. 8 has 116 professional rugby matches under his belt in Super Rugby, the Premiership, the Championship, and the Japanese Top League. He represented Australia at the U20s level and found success at top-flight professional rugby teams Leicester Tigers and the Brumbies.

AG Head Coach Sam Harris believes Lachlan McCaffrey could provide a huge lift to his program as the team prepares for a playoff push. “‘Locky’ is a superb rugby player, a true professional, and a hardened veteran of this game,” says Harris. “He’ll be a crucial contributor in our backrow, in our clubhouse, and as we travel across the country for the remainder of our season.”
