AG Rugby Acquires Electric Winger Julian Dominguez Widmer

AUSTIN, TX (November, 26th 2021) AG Rugby is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Argentinian winger Julian Dominguez Widmer. Dominguez has been a living highlight reel for the NOLA Gold the last two seasons; sitting near the top of the league in tries through his first two seasons in Major League Rugby.

Dominguez is excited for the opportunity in Austin, “I knew the AGs were a serious team that are solid in attack and defense, after having a conversation with [Head Coach] Sam Harris, I knew it was a team formed by good people that want to work hard and get to another level.”

Dominguez is a powerful ball carrier on the wing and is known throughout the league for his shotgun fend. The winger is still very much on the Argentinian National team radar after playing for Los Pumas U20s, Argentina XV team, Jaguares XV and with two seasons in the Argentina 7s squad. He’ll continue to make a case for the Pumas #11 jersey with the AGs in the 2022 MLR campaign.

“Julian is a phenomenal talent, and a huge get for us as a winger on the MLR First XV team last year, which is a huge achievement for him,” says AG Head Coach Sam Harris. “He’s an athlete, a big body, and runs with a different intensity than most other people; [Julian] brings strike power to the AGs and I think he could take the competition by storm.”

“This team has an excellent staff and players that give me their support and push me to be better,” says Dominguez. “ These first couple training sessions have been tough, but I’m happy to be back at training and a part of this group.”
